What's my secret?
Am I wealthy?
Do I have a sponsor?
These are the kinds of questions I usually get asked.
But that's not it at all, and the answer is very simple – I have a passion to travel. And where there's a will there's a way. ๐
To be able to make my dream of travelling come true I came up with 3 rules:
1. Cheap Flights – I regularly look on different sites to find good deals.
2. Travel Like a Local – because tourists always pay more. I stay with local families that I find on airbnb, eat in restaurants where the locals dine, buy in grocery stores, get around by public transportย andย avoid touristic attractions. This way Iย get a double gain – save money and experience the real life at the country I visit.
3.ย I keep working when travelling. I take my laptop with me and dedicate time for work.
(I runย my website, this blog,ย and do online marketing).
One more thing Iโd like to share with you – I never know in advance how Iโll manage to organise my next trip. With a family of three children it looks nearly impossible each and every time; thereโs always a challenge that seems unsolvable and a moment when Iโm about to say "next time".
"JUST DO IT" I tell myself instead, and buy the tickets. Then,ย just like magic it all falls into place.
Sometimes it happens by surprise or at the last minute. For example:
In order for me to travel to Vietnam with my daughter Shira, I needed to find someone who could stay with myย two other children at home while I was away.
My good friend Natasha, who happened to come for a visit from overseas, saved the day. She was happy to stay at our house and take care of the children in return.
I could only dream of travelling Norway (as itโs a very expensive country) โtill I met Clara on my trip toย Prague. Clara invited me to stay at her house in Norway free of charge! And my friend Ha recommended a cheap flight to Norway via Poland.
My trip to Norway becameย possible with the help of my new local friends. ๐
My trip to Bulgaria almost got cancelled because Maya, my baby girl, had a stomach flu. By the time she recovered there were only three days left for me to prepare a two week tripโฆ or rather not prepare, but go with the flow once there.
When I was looking at hotels prices in Austria I couldn't believe my eyes – even sharing a room in a hostel was double my budget…
Luckilyย found Semone on airbnb who offered a lovely room at the center of Vienna for onlyย $20 per night.
While looking for a room I found a friend for life. ๐
I can never say in advance how, but I know that not just will I manege… ย I will also have a great time, meet fascinating people and discover wonderful places! ๐
